ABOUT US
Truth Triangle No. 31, located in Huntington, NY, was founded in 1927. We are one of the oldest of the eleven active chapters of the Organization of Triangles, Inc. throughout all of New York State.
For those of you who may not be familiar with The Organization of Triangles, Inc., we are a youth group for young women aged 10-21, operating exclusively in New York. The goal of our organization is to help young women learn skills that will help them be successful as they enter adulthood. Through a ritual (a book similar to a script for a play) based off of, though simpler than, that of the Eastern Star/Amaranth, we seek to instill basic principles of righteous living. The ritual also helps our members learn public speaking, confidence, structure, focus and poise. As our members plan their own activities, they learn to be charitable and organized, while learning how to work together for a greater good and to use their own personal strengths to boost and make better any function they take part in. Our lessons are taught based on a framework of three forms of responsibility;
To God; We are a non-denominational organization, and members of all faiths enjoy an open and accepting environment to exercise this responsibility as they see fit. We require the belief in a Supreme Being/Power, but we do not limit our membership based on what faith is followed. The purpose of this form of responsibility is to educate our members that faith is an important part of a healthy and balanced life.
To Others; Respect for those around you, learning to care for those in need, honoring your parents, and becoming a good citizen are all important messages within our organization. These lessons are learned through our fundraising events, special degrees, and fun activities.
To Yourself; Our girls learn to have a deep respect for themselves, and are encouraged to discover and utilize their own personal strengths and talents. Our girls learn to become confident, strong leaders and are provided a healthy environment that fosters self-worth and personal motivation. By the time they reach Majority (the age of 21), they have been given a foundation for success as mature, confident women.
Just as importantly, our members have a lot of fun through organized and well supervised events. These young women form bonds of friendship with their peers throughout the state based on a common desire to influence positive change in the world around them. Supervisors and advisers act as guides on this path to help the members reach their fullest potential and encouraging them to do their best while maintaining a safe and fun environment.
